Why would my husband allow his boss to hold on to doing this?

He has worked for this heating co. for over 10 yrs. He be hired with the promise that he would begin as an installer and latter be a service guy as he went to school to do service. So, it never happen. Then the other boss retires and he is promised his position 6 yrs ago and that never happened. About 3 months ago a service position opens and he jam-packed out an application and told his boss he wants the position and the boss hired someone new instead maxim that he needed him in the install dept. So the guy they hired screwed everything up and they fired him. They had also hired a tentative install guy and my hubby goes to work to find him riding with the service guys. He found a bright job the next year and talked to his boss. Boss was appologetic and made more promises...that be over 2 wks ago and the promises haven't been fullfilled.my hubby says he wishes time?? Why is he allowing the boss to treat him this way?

Answers:    Maybe your husband is afraid of change or trying to find a unsullied job. Some people are not agressive and won't force the issue if they are human being 'toyed' with .

Hope your husband gets some cahonays to stand up for himself. Your aspect of life can only changeover for the better if he does.
could be he's afraid to start over somewhere else

or could be he's worried that there is no other job to budge to

if he quits he wont get unemplyment, so you better help him procession up another job somewhere else before he tell his boss he quits like you want him too
he is probably worried that if he stepped up to his boss he might be denied and/or fired.

he either desires to stop listening to his boss' promises or step up to the plate.
probably because change is tricky and he is comfortable where he is at even if he is not happy
it is kinda close to when people stay in a impossible marriage
