Vacation pay- what hours worked are eligible for 4%? (Canada)?
The Co. I work with has 2 union - 2 types of jobs.
Before I was hired as a FT hand, I was a casual member of staff, doing work in both fields, and reception the 4% vacation pay on respectively cheque.
I am a full time employee now, covered beneath ONE of the union collectives. I am entitled to my 2 weeks vacation as a full time hand. I also work in the 'other' job - which is covered lower than the other collective. All hours worked there, I am considered a casual and do not receive OT, 4% time off pay, nor any benefits. I just receive straight time reward. That's it. My hours are not added to the time in my FT job - so I do not receive over-time any.
My question is, the 4% vacation salary - should it be added to all my hours worked as a casual?
Answers: This sounds incredibly strange...you shouldn't be employed in 2 different jobs working underneath two different unions.
But, it does sound resembling you're supposed to be getting the 4% vacation pay on the available job that you're working "casual."
