Answers: High School: Some school offer programs that you can take to acquire college credits, so when you graduate, you won't have to take as long surrounded by college o receive your degree. Ask you advisor.
I would recommend anyone wanting their RN to get an associate's degree-- which single requires a few years-- then continuing their education while working (and getting tuition reimbursement from their employer) to receive their Bachelors, Masters, etc.
The employment responsibilities vary. It will be different working contained by a doctors office than as a Life Flight nurse. Try looking up different specializations that you can go into and call for a local healthcare facility to see if you can "shadow" a nurse for a few hours.
The schedules also vary. Some nurses work WEO (weekend option), working 3 12-hours shifts a week, some can work sunshine, night and evening shifts...
Salary depends on location. Here, in southern Indiana where on earth the cost of living is nothing, we make more or less $24+/hour. I've heard of some nurses in other areas (Tennessee) making roughly $35+/hr, so as you can see, it varies on location. Also, there is something call a Travel Nurse that takes various assignments, travelling to areas that want assistance (bigger cities usually, so it could be interesting to travel) making around $45+ an hour, with sign-on bonuses.
Nursing is a great profession because you can always move into somehing different if you don't close to where you are at, or go further into your teaching and make more money.
Since I'm assuming your younger, I would recommend trying to get a commission in a hospital in tolerant care or even a small clerical job. This will supply you a feel for what it is like to work contained by a hospital adn would look great on a resume.
