Can an employer force you to work through your break?

Unfortunately, yes. Per federal decree, employer don't even own to furnish you a break, however, the law may differ contained by some states.
Contrary to popular belief, federal wage and hour law (www.dol.gov) do not mandate breaks, vacation, holidays, compensated time rotten, etc... they mandate hours worked and overtime.
In reality, oodles military shifts require "straight 8's" within which they will merely offer an hand 15 - 20 minutes surrounded by their shift to run a break and scarf down a sandwich (although they do compensate for this time).
The best item to do is step to the www.dol.gov and find the relationship to the local Dept of Labor bureau for your state and check the state law.

No they cannot, at least possible here surrounded by California. You're merely required to hold 10 minutes every 4 hours or something here. And 30 minutes if you work 8 hours. My girlfriend is food server and they "force" them to whip breaks even when they are busy.
in most cases yes they can unless you hold to clock out for your break and during which time you are not rewarded, contained by most alliance job they are required to sting you minimum breaks but not at any picky time a short time ago today i worked through my first break and lunch so when i be competent to hold a break i took both my break and lunch at like time but unless you hold a wirrten contract such as a league they dont hold to contribute you a break at any certian time
No. Go to the employer greater boss whereby they may be. Don't tolerate this personality catch you down. Tell co workers and win together. This being is bullying you and is probably getting you to do work they don't want to do.

WalMart recenty have a statute suit against them next to basically that problem.. they lost.. They shouldn't construct you work through your break.. but at equal time, they are allowed to describe you when or when you can't whip that break...
yes, unfortunatly an employer can dictate breaks..their is no US directive governing "breaks" the solely decree that have to be honored is lunch.. for every 5 hours worked you are entitiled and required by decree to purloin at smallest a 30 minute break for "lunch"..any breaks above and beyond that are considered benefits from employer..so they do not own to confer any extra except what is required by ruling ..
