What is a typical shift resembling for a firefighter?

Depends on the size of the department, but, shift adaptation for us is at 0700, duty officer fill us within on the happenings on our days sour.
IF you be to hold a shift near NO call, this is how we lay ours out. Mind you..we never hold a shift run by near no calls

Odds and ends, pretty much all the little crap that builds up throughout the week get done here, minor repairs on equipment, hose carrying out tests etc.
Dinner
After dinner, it's pretty much free time. Out of bed by 0600, prepared for shift adapt by 0645
