If I go into publishing, what major/minor would be required?

The standard answer would be communicatons, journalism, or English, but trust me--I've be within the book publishing business for more than 20 years, and the answer is that, while those majors may support you landscape an interview, a level contained by marketing (combined beside, maybe, an English or journalism minor) will nick you far surrounded by this industry. These days, it's not so much "is a book great?" as it is "will this book trade?"--or, even better--"how can I put on the market this book?" If you can see a manuscript from that perspective, you will be twelve steps ahead of those English Lit majors who construe that a occupation contained by pubishing involves reading adjectives sunshine (HA!).
