What does "In-House Marketing" mingy?
Answers: Just to expand a bit on what some of the others have posted...
While many companies do indeed enjoy their own In-House Marketing Departments, such departments don't necessarily engage in adjectives aspects of marketing or provide fully integrated marketing services. Some provide only a public relations function. Others serve as an on-site creative department to produce signs and small ads.
Also, few In-House Marketing departments produce their own commercials. These are typically the work of an outside promotion agency hired by the marketing department specifically to provide this creative service. Typically, marketing strategy will be developed by a company's marketing department. The marketing department will then in turn hire an outside selling agency to help implement the strategy.
I have served on both the public relations agency side of the business and the client side of the business. In my experience, I believe that having an outside agency develop creative messaging provides a valuable perspective. Too recurrently, companies and their marketing departments tend to view things from an ivory tower, which makes it hugely difficult for them to connect with consumers on either an intense or a rational basis.
