Freelance illustrative design warning?
I was wondering, if I go to a local print company and ask them what their rates are for things approaching flyers, posters, business cards etc. do you think since I will be giving them a lot of job they will give me a discount?
Do print companies usually ship to customers even if they are local or do I have to do it myself?
Thank you
Answers: Most printing companies will make a contribution a discount for steady customers. My printing comany will discount anything over $1,000 a month.
Most will drop ship for an additional fee, but next your customer may see the invoice or the printers information.
I have been working contained by print shops for over 13 years and they do not give discounts to you because you are a designer. However they may give you a discount if you bring them allot of business but they will not depend on freshly your word, they may want something in writing or you may be able to work something out beside the sales representative. The shipping is completely up to your customer, it’s all nearly what they want, not what you decide. I suggest you go into a print shop recount them you’re new to design and you would like to articulate about how the presses works. Honestly it depends on where your located. I know of a couple print companies where on earth you can earn good points for being a valued customer. It could organize to possible discounts down the line. As for them shipping out, it depends on the quantity of the product. If its a bunch of fliers to walk out, they probably would. Your best bet would be to go around to your local print companies and ask them the questions you own above. I'm pretty sure if you give them a bargain they could minister to you out. Also make sure you ask them what format they take, every in a minute and then you get the company explicitly specific about what the files are sent in and how the projects are done and if you necessitate to convert from mac to pc or vice versa. Research is your best key here. I'm a symbolic designer myself, so I know its not easy but ifyou get on a right side with a print company then you'll be better rotten in the long run. Good Luck
Most printing companies will give you a discount if they know you are a pictographic designer sending them business. As far as shipping I don't know any local printing company (South Florida) that ships to clients it is too much of a hassle. I would find a wholesale company online you can work with.
