Being forced to work on non-work related contest at work?

The bygone 2 years - and possibly even until that time I worked here, we own worked on something call the "NOVA" awards, which is a type of marketing award contest put out by the American Marketing Association.

I am technically in the marketing department, though I am a designer and not part of this singular association, though I am a contestant of the AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) - the equivalent, of AMA but for designers. Our department immediately consists of 3 marketing personnel, 3 designers and our executive.

For this contest, the advisors bring together and discuss which pieces they would resembling to enter within the NOVA awards. They largely pick 3 campaign to enter, though later year they picked four. (continued)

Answers:
I abominate to voice it, but the "non-work related contest" is work related. Anything that promotes the firm, increases visibility among potential clients, and make the firm more "appealing" by proving its gift to do award-winning product is work related.

I will voice that the biggest issues you appear to own are the insufficiency of respect your pains receive and the ignorance of those who request it of you.

Sit down near your boss, explain the issues, which primarily sounds approaching your coworkers are treating you close to a Kinkos. You might also want to consider discussing this next to the offending personnel. If they don't realize they're doing anything impolite, they can't correct their whereabouts.

Ultimately, it's up to you to voice your concerns appropriately and concisely.

As someone whose spent hours organize work for ADDYs and such, I get the drift your frustration.

Hope that help a most minuscule a bit.
Did your supervisor instruct you to work on this project? If so, it is work related regardless of your perception of the rightfulness of the project. If the contest brings kudos to the firm near positive confession, consequently it is duty related promotion and public relations.

Or are you only just upset that you didn't receive any classification for the awards? Take your query simply as you own written it to your supervisor. If they caution at adjectives nearly the morale of their staff, they will address your concerns beside you.
